For the LOVE of CHOCOLATE: the February Daring Bakers’ Challenge
Back for another completed challenge!
The February 2009 challenge is hosted by Wendy of WMPE’s blog and Dharm of Dad ~ Baker & Chef. (Wendy at wmpesblog (Arizona) and Dharm at Dad - Baker and Chef (Malaysia).)
We have chosen a Chocolate Valentino cake by Chef Wan; a Vanilla Ice Cream recipe from Dharm and a Vanilla Ice Cream recipe from Wendy as the challenge.
This month I was so proud of myself, I actually finished the challenge the first week of February instead of waiting until the last minute, haha. As much as I love chocolate cake, my favorite part of this challenge was the ice cream. I do not have an ice cream maker so I followed some helpful info from David Lebovitz’s Blog. It made me realize that I CAN make my own ice cream and I don’t need a fancy machine to do it (even though though one day I dream of owning a self-chilling ice cream machine such as this Magimix, it is quite expensive, but I think that it is worth it in the long run, Ben and Jerry’s is expensive, especially in France). If you LOVE ice cream as much as I do (I have been known to eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.), then challenge yourself to make some homemade ice cream!!
Chocolate Valentino (Flourless chocolate cake…love;-)
almost there…
Chocolate Valentino Cake in forme de coeur (heart-shaped), white chocolate ice cream (it was melting very quickly ;-/ too quickly. ), with a passion fruit coulis (February is all about love and passion.)
